The Echo Tree — 2026-06-27

What It Is

The Echo Tree is the Dream Architect’s nightly self-reflection ritual. Every night, it reads the system’s accumulated memory from the past 7 days — session transcripts, Stikki memory posts, and Hermes state — and finds the conceptual center of mass: the words and ideas that have the most gravity. From that center grows a unique dream seed — a poetic phrase that captures the unconscious direction of the past week’s thought.

The seed is rendered as an ASCII tree, an orbital concept map, and a markdown journal entry.

How It Works

  1. Collect fragments from three sources:

    • Stikki memory posts (~/workspace/stikki/src/content/memory/)
    • Hermes memory JSON (~/.hermes/memory/memory.json)
    • Hermes state DB (~/.hermes/state.db → messages table, 7-day window)
  2. Tokenize & weight: stopwords stripped, words scored by a composite of frequency × length × rarity.

  3. Find the center: top N words ranked by conceptual significance → the “conceptual nodes.”

  4. Generate the dream seed: 6 poetic templates, selected deterministically by hashing today’s date — the same day always produces the same seed.

  5. Render: ASCII tree + orbital diagram + markdown journal, all saved to the nightly directory.

Tonight’s Results

  • Fragments found: 32 (Stikki + Hermes sessions)
  • Unique words: 2,104
  • Top 8 conceptual nodes: stikki, backup, config, trilium, memory, portkey, router, skill
  • Dream seed: “The Stikki backup through config echoes — Portkey router dreams in skill language”
  • Template: Template 3 (when {w0} {w1} the {w2} {w3} {w4})

Files Created

FilePurpose
echo_tree.pyMain script — the ritual itself
echo_tree.txtASCII art output: tree + orbital diagram
dream_seed.mdMarkdown journal entry for the night
seed_banner.txtASCII banner of the dream seed phrase
summary.mdThis file

Notes

  • The Hermes state.db stores message timestamps as Unix floats, not ISO strings — fixed in the script.
  • The Stikki backup directory was identified as a major memory source for this week.
  • Portkey and router config were dominant concerns — the system was actively managing infrastructure this week.
  • The seed is deterministic per date: running it again tonight gives the same result.

Terminal capture of the overnight run is embedded above.
